We adopted our first greyhounds, Trixie and Mowgli, from Hemopet in Irvine, California, December 1996. Little did we know how much our lives would be enriched by these wonderful dogs. Even though the weather is mostly mild in Southern California we realized that our special greys would need protection in the winter. Not satisfied with the coats I found, I designed and made my own.

We moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1999 with Trixie and Sam (sadly Mowgli died too early at age 7 and Sam was adopted in 1998). I realized those earlier jackets weren't adequate for the Portland weather. I purchased a variety of water-repellant and fleece fabrics for raincoats and fleece coats, and have been making and selling coats since 2003.

The Greyt Outdoors coats have been tested on my own greyhounds, and have kept them comfortable and dry. Staci was adopted in October 2001 and Porter in January 2006 after Sam died. Trixie was a member of our family for ten years and passed away at age 15 in February 2007. We're sad to say that Porter also left us in 2007 at the young age of 7. We adopted the lovable Trey in November 2007 and he and Staci were the best of friends until her passing in October 2009. Athena joined our family and her fun-loving nature keeps Trey on his toes.

We help promote greyhound adoption through our local group Oregon Greyhound Adoption www.oregongreyhound.com and a percentage of Greyt Outdoors sales is donated to benefit greyhounds. Coats are also donated for auctions and raffles for greyhound groups across the country.
